The 2016 Ride Route

We will begin this ride in Anacortes, Washington and travel east to Bar Harbor, Maine.  Upon our arrival on the west coast however, we will take a few days to ride around the San Juan Islands, as we’ve been told by many that to pass up on that chance is likely to lead to deep regret.  That’s okay with us as unlike the 2011 ride, there are no time pressures for this trip.  If we have a deadline at all, it will be to finish before winter sets in on the Northeast United States.  Like all people of good sense, we’ll be home in Florida by then.

Our route will mainly follow what is known as the “Northern Tier” and adding the “North Lakes” alternative along with the “Erie Connector” using maps from Adventure Cycling Association.  We’ll travel something around 4,500 miles, nothing is set in stone, and we look forward to the highlights of any of these trips – the people we encounter and the internal changes that come about as life on a bike once again sets in.
